Just got in the Verizon 4G LTE WiFi Hotspot (more info) (like MiFi, Samsung SCH-L11) and tested it (speeds in Mbps as per speedtest.net)…
outside strong signal: 54ms ping, 8.5 down, 3.3 up
inside week signal: 101ms ping, 5.0 down, 0.42 up
Not bad I may say for mobile broadband, particularly compared to 3G on my iPhone (300ms, 2.3 down, 0.2 up).
Update: measured 40ms and 13 Mbps down just down the road
Update (5/26/2011): just clocked 19.5 Mbps down, kickass
